Your friend has been asked to lead a major project at work for the first time, but they're worried they don't have enough experience. Give your friend advice.

  • Acknowledge your friend's concern.
  • Give practical and realistic advice.
  • Explain why your suggestions could help.
  • Finish with an encouraging statement.
TASK 2 – Personal Experience

Talk about a time when you had to solve a problem without anyone's help. What happened, and what did you learn?

  • Set the situation clearly.
  • Explain the problem and what you did.
  • Describe the result.
  • End with what you learned.
TASK 3 – Describe the Picture

Describe the picture to someone who cannot see it.

Describe the swimming-pool scene clearly. Start with the overall setting, then move from the foreground to the centre and background. Mention the people, their activities, the pool, the snack stand and other visible details.

  • Use present continuous tense for actions.
  • Use location phrases such as “in the foreground”, “in the centre” and “in the background”.
  • Describe only what you can see rather than making assumptions.
TASK 4 – Make Predictions

Predict what might happen next.

Look at the same picture in Task 3 again and predict what might happen next.

  • Use visible clues from the picture.
  • Make 3–4 realistic predictions.
  • Use phrases such as “will probably”, “might”, “could” and “is likely to”.
TASK 5 – Comparing and Persuading

Compare the two sunglasses options.

You and your friend are both looking to buy a new pair of sunglasses. You've each picked a different option. Compare the two and convince your friend that your choice is the better buy.

  • Compare price, protection, durability and features.
  • Acknowledge at least one benefit of the other option.
  • Give clear reasons for your choice.
  • Focus on persuading your friend.
TASK 6 – Difficult Situation

Choose one solution.

You and your friend planned a road trip together, but at the last minute your car needs urgent repairs and won't be ready in time.

Choose ONE:

  • Option 1: Talk to your friend, explain the situation and suggest postponing the trip.
  • Option 2: Talk to another friend and ask if you can borrow their car for the trip instead.
TASK 7 – Express an Opinion

Give your opinion about AI in education.

Do you think students should be allowed to use AI tools like chatbots to help with their homework and assignments?

  • State your opinion immediately.
  • Give 2–3 clear reasons.
  • Include a practical example.
  • Briefly acknowledge the opposite viewpoint.
TASK 8 – Unusual Situation

Describe the unusual object.

You found a small, glowing garden ornament shaped like a lantern left behind at a community garden. Call the garden's management office and describe it. Ask if anyone has reported it missing.
